Backpacking Boot Rating: 8.5 – Great!
Durable hiking boot with great toe protection and Gore-Tex waterproofing. Great for day hiking and tough enough for long multi-day hikes with a 30-40 lb pack.

THE GOOD
The beefy sole is mated to the leather upper with reinforced stitching and the soles stiffness gives the toe area added protection. Overall the Radical 452 is well constructed and quite durable.
THE BAD
The traction knobs on the Radical 452 are unusually short and extra slick in slippery conditions.
THE FIT & COMFORT
This boot requires the avearage break-in time for a backpacking boot. The Radical has a standard foot shape (slight curve and medium width) but is a little bit more straight like a Salomon.
THE PRICE
List price – $160.00
Average price – $129.95
OTHER NOTES
This boot is in-between hiking and backpacking and some backpackers prefer this type of traction when they are on dry groomed conditions.
